Sunday morning

At 5:00 a.m. the temperature was 29 degrees.
It's 32 degrees at 7:30 a.m.
and there is some "frosting" on the Winged Euonymus
next to my front steps!

The TWCNY Forecast:

"Cold with Some Lake Snow, Temps Improve This Week.

Unseasonably cold air will keep the lake effect activity going today before winding down and coming to an end tonight. We will see mainly areas of lake effect flurries and snow showers this morning away from the immediate lake shores where temperatures are running a touch warmer. Lakeside communities will likely pick up on a little mix of snow with some rain and graupel. Snow will then mix with some rain later today as temps start to "warm" up. Some light accumulations are possible with a coating to as much as 2" in more persistent snow bands. Outside of any lake effect activity, we'll see partly to mostly cloudy skies but it will be another chilly/cold day with highs in the mid 30s to low 40s. Any lingering rain and/or snow will come to an end tonight with decreasing clouds. It will be another very cold night with lows in the 10s/20s. Nicer weather makes a comeback Monday with plenty of sunshine and highs in the 50s. We turn even warmer on Tuesday and Wednesday with temps in the 60s but we'll likely have to dodge a few spotty showers from time to time."

Some "new camera" photos.

View of Hanover from the Eastman Cemetery on Daytonville Road.

Woodbine, perfectly colored and arranged by Nature, on the fence next to the driveway at the Waterville Public Library.

Every year someone who lives at Terry Meadows arranges a pretty Autumn scene .......

.......... and this home on East Bacon Street has one of the first
Hallowe'en displays.

On Shanley Road, a cheerful ghost shows off a bountiful harvest ....

... and,  down the hill a bit at the Landis Farm, the beautifully arranged "farm stand" looks to me just like the scene in a
photo on the cover of "Vermont Life" magazine.

Soy Bean Harvest has begun.

On Thursday afternoon I caught sight of John Brouillette walking from Fuess-Cleary Road right into a field of soy. After a dozen or so paces he stopped, picked some beans, and appeared to test their taste and texture.  Experience must have told him that the time was right ......

.... for on Friday, this behemoth appeared and much of the soy was gone.
