It's bright and sunny and warm (66 degrees) at 11:30 a.m. on Columbus Day.
If you're traveling North to see the foliage, also look for patches of bright blue Fringed Gentian, rare treasures, right next to the road between Eagle Bay and Inlet.

Here's the morning Weather Forecast from TWCNY:
Today will be quite nice with plenty of sun expected with temperatures warming well into the 70s.
Late tonight into Tuesday a cold front will work in with extra clouds and a few showers. It won't be as warm on Tuesday but we'll still end up a bit above average with highs in the upper 60s.
The real cool down will take place on Wednesday. Highs will drop back into the mid 50s with lingering moisture keeping a couple of showers in the forecast. The fall-like chill and unsettled conditions look to stick around through at least the end of the week."

"At the Brothertown Optimist meeting Wednesday, October 7, the club presented a a moveable speaker’s podium to the Village of Waterville. Mayor Gene Ostrander accepted the presentation from Optimist member Don Brown who was instrumental in obtaining the podium. The Optimist Club holds their monthly meetings in the Community Room of the Village Hall where the podium will be useful at both the Optimist meetings and meetings of the Village of Waterville."

SPECIAL EVENT
"On Wednesday, October 21 at 7 pm, in honor of Fire Prevention Month, the Waterville Historical Society at 220 East Main Street will present a free public program on the history of the Waterville Fire Department by Louis M. Langone.
"Mr. Langone will give a PowerPoint presentation on the history of the Fire Department from its beginning in 1829 to the present, featuring Waterville's major fires, its firehouses, and the firefighting equipment used throughout the years.
A 41-year active member of the Waterville Fire Department, Langone has served in every officer's position, including Chief and President. In 1998 he edited the book, History of The Waterville Fire Department. 'At that time,' he says, 'I became the Historian of the Department because of all the research I did for the book.' "

Throughout the Village and the surrounding countryside, Maple trees are showing off all shades of golden foliage.
.... and there are brilliant orange and red patches, here and there.
You can catch glimpses of bright Swamp Maples from Kelley Road.
Jeff Reynolds took an early morning walk through the gardens at the Waterville Public Library .....
- where dewdrops gleamed on overnight "webworks" and the tiny red "apples" on the ornamental crabapple trees.

Who remembers the slogan that goes with this West Main Street view?
Work moves right along, on Route 315, on a new structure that replaces a portion of the old iron works that was damaged by fire a month or more ago.
In this view you can see that the new building is much larger than that which was demolished, and even stretches behind the existing two-story structure.

At least for the foreseeable future I will only be publishing items and/or photographs that are sent directly to me or that originate in my camera and computer.
You'll still be seeing plenty of pictures, comments about the weather, obituary notices, historical notes, and - of course - your announcements.
For anything else, you'll have to look elsewhere.
