It's Working!

What a wonderful thing!

No more huge letter box,

No more dropped key,

No more juggling the window .....

Just a quick Email to Brenda Knoeller

and

magic happens!

As seen when heading out of town ......

.......  and coming into the Village from the South.

This afternoon the loop contained four or five messages,
each lasting three or four seconds.

Electronic announcements are available to all
not-for-profit organizations within the Village.

No personal greetings to or from individuals.

IN THE NEWS

Yesterday Morning ...

.. there was a lot of activity in the Park.  Supervised by several members of the Waterville DPW, technicians from Toth Sports were unpacking pieces and parts of the new electronic sign.

Cowslips or "Marsh Marigolds"

I know that folks who like to forage for wild food  love gathering cowslip leaves early in the Springtime when buds are still very small, but I've never had very good luck cooking them. Because the plants always grow in cold, muddy, gloppy places the leaves need to be washed and washed before you begin to cook them. The leaves are quite bitter, so they need to be boiled in at least four changes of water.

I prefer to wait until the yellow blossoms open and pick a bright bouquet!

LOOKING AHEAD

The TWCNY Weather Forecast:

"Pleasant and Bright! Showers and More Clouds Late Week.
Today will be a rather pleasant day with sun, clouds and quiet conditions. Temperatures should also end up near seasonable levels with highs in the 60s.

Extra moisture will start to work in toward the end of the week and reintroduce a couple of hit or miss showers to the forecast. However, both Thursday and Friday will feature a decent amount of dry time and it remains mild with highs in the 60s.

Our weather looks uneventful heading into the upcoming weekend with no major temperature swings expected. Highs will be around the mid 60s Saturday and in the upper 60s/near 70 Sunday."

FOR THE RECORD

If you hadn't already guessed, everything is running
about 12 to 14 days late!

The Pulmonaria (a.k.a. Lungwort or Pearl) is blooming ......

......  and there are patches of tiny purple or white Violets here and there in the lawn.

Blue Cohosh is hiding in hardwoods ........

.... and if the sun would just come out you'd be able to see the tiny
Spring Beauty ...........

 and white Bloodroot, too!

What are the chances of THAT happening?

It's 50 degrees and gray at 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Here's the Weather Forecast from TWCNY:

"Isolated Rain/Snow Shower Overnight, A Cool & Unsettled Start to the Week. The overnight will be partly/mostly cloudy with nothing more than an isolated rain/snow shower. Lows will be in the middle and upper 30s. An area of low pressure centered to our east will allow for a mostly cloudy sky and a few showers on Monday. In addition to that, expect breezy and unseasonably cool conditions across Central NY with highs ranging from 49 to 54 degrees.

Improvement looks to take place on Tuesday as a drier and milder air mass builds in. We'll see more in the way of sunshine which will help boost temperatures into the low 60s. Dry weather should prevail through at least Wednesday with highs staying in the 60s for the rest of the week."

In the News

From the Utica Observer-Dispatch.

From the Utica Observer-Dispatch.

*********************************************

It's a beautiful morning!

The snow is gone, the sky is blue, the sun is bright
and the temperature is rising.

It's 29 derees at 7:00 a.m. and it'll be a perfect day for
the Daniel Barden Mudfest in Deansboro!

*****

The TWCNY Weather Forecast:

"Not as Chilly Today, A Quiet Start to the Weekend
Today will feature sun and clouds and it won't be as chilly as yesterday (though still cool) with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s. Tonight will be clear/partly cloudy, cold and quiet with lows in the upper 20s and low 30s.
A disturbance will push in from the north tomorrow with increasing clouds and the risk for a spotty afternoon shower. However, most of the day looks dry and temperatures will be a touch milder with highs in the mid 50s.
We'll see showers become more numerous across Central NY on Monday and after starting off the week with highs in the 50s, temperatures should manage to climb into the low 60s Tuesday. This more seasonable air mass will also be accompanied by drier weather and by Wednesday, temperatures are expected to top out closer to the mid 60s."

So many questions from folks who are wondering either why there aren't any windows or whether there will be brick facing on the outside or if this really is what the 260 Structural Engineering building on East Main Street will look like!

No!  What you see is a temporary enclosure
providing safety and security and necessitated by the fact that most of the original wall and windows are in that dumpster
- which happens to be the third such load of ages-old material.
