Forecasters agree: It Will Snow!

But the question is,  "How Much?"

At 6:00 p.m. on Sunday there has been some light snow and the temperature is 28 degrees.

Here's one possibility:

The TWCNY Forecast:

"Winter Storm Warning, Snow and Cold Continue.

We have winter storm warnings posted for the enitre viewing area, but we do not have a storm working in per say. We have a series of smaller systems moving through from today into early Tuesday morning that will give us around 8 to 12" of snow. Sounds like a lot right? Well it is but think of it this way, we are going to be getting it slow and steady. Starting today until Tuesday morning we will be seeing a few inches every time period. So 2-4" today in spots, 2-5" tonight in spots and so on through Tuesday. Although there could be periods where the snow is a bit more intense, I think we are dealing with a managable situation.

So for today we have snow showers and a wintry mix for areas south of Syracuse today. All snow Syracuse north today means about 2-4" of snow, otherwise areas in the mix see little accumulation and slick conditions. All snow late night and tomorrow means another 2-5" for tomorrow. As long as you keep up with the clean up and take you time on the roads, this will be a fairly managable situation.

After Tuesday we have more cold on the way with highs going from the 20s into the single digits by the end of the week. Coldest air this season possible by Friday!"

-  OR - you can pick this! -

Children, especially,  wonder, "Will it be enough?"
and are employing time-tested methods in hopes of assuring that Monday will be a
SNOW DAY!

  When you go to bed,
1. wear your p.j.s backwards.
2. put a spoon under your pillow.
3. flush at least six (6) ice cubes down the toilet.

Other favorites include doing a snow dance around a bowl of ice cubes or in front of the freezer or putting a spoon in the freezer.

I've consulted the Snow Day Calculator and was told that there is a 99% chance of a snow day tomorrow: Here - try it yourself!

IN THE MAIL

This note is from Rusty Frederick, a member of the SouthGate Ministries congregation, in response to my question about Sunday morning crowding of the CVS parking lot:

"It's really not that big back there (behind the church) to have an entrance and an exit. If we could exit out the driveway for the apartments on the west side it might be doable but we could never get the easement for that. Some of us suggested buying the property on the east side for a parking lot to no avail. Everyone has been asked not to park at CVS."

There was a major event at the church on Saturday and participants were directed to the Village parking lot behind the Barton Medical Center. That helped a great deal and
I hope that the extra efforts made - which involved a long walk in really cold weather  - were appreciated.

I drove through the village at around 11:00 a.m. on Sunday and there were several parking spaces available in front of CVS.

Meanwhile, down in Sangerfield, snowmobilers were gassing up at Nice 'n Easy.
