Here & There

The "Rhodies" and "Bridal Wreath" are in bloom.

*****

Warm-weather make-over projects are in progress at the former Main Street Garage, now owned by Mr. Art White .......

..... and at the Waterville Veterinary Clinic on Madison Street.

Meanwhile, in the center of the Village, all eyes are on the building between "Stick 'n Stones" and Mark Barnes' Law Office on East Main Street, waiting to see what changes have been taking place at the historic 1835 structure, soon to be the home of
260 Structural Engineering owned by Dale Meszler.
A few weeks ago I posted a picture of the new  911 Memorial near Amsterdam, N.Y. remarking that the engineering was provided by 260 Structural Engineering.
After that, I thought that blog readers might not be aware of what 260 Structural does most of the time and asked Dale for pictures of one of his current projects (of which he and his four employees always have several "in the works" at the same time.)

In Windham, NY - luxury condominiums at Windham Mountain .........

......... well on the way to completion.
Unfortunately, I'm not in the position of deciding to build a new hotel or school or  casino, but if I were I'd be sure to call Dale to make sure it was done right!

FOR THE RECORD

Last week I posted this photograph on Facebook
with a link to the history of Waterville Civil War Monument.
One response read: "We are fortunate to have this historic monument in Waterville."

Well, yes, we are ... but  ...  throughout its history this community has always been the most fortunate to have residents who have willingly shared their time and financial resources to provide things like that monument and the land it's on, the old opera house, the early library and first schools and the relatively new Memorial Bandstand.  The entire Village benefits each year from the Edward S. Barton Trust, from those who give financial support to the volunteer Fire Department and the Volunteer Ambulance Corps,  and from the training, experience and energies of volunteer First Responders and all those who make up the memberships of local service organizations, and once-a-year special event committees.

When you get right down to it, there are a huge number of people living in and around Waterville who give what they can because they can, and they are what Waterville is really fortunate to have!
