Monday morning update

It's Garbage Day.

69 degrees and clear at 6:30 a.m.

The morning weather forecast from TWCNY:

"Warm, but Less Humid , Dry till Tuesday Afternoon

Today will be breezy with a good deal of sun that will likely mix with more clouds later in the day. It will be quite warm Monday, but less humid, which will make it feel more comfy compared to what we've dealt with this weekend.  Highs will be well up into the 80s.
Later Monday night into Tuesday another cold front will come through with a few more showers and storms, and any storm that comes through during this time frame could be strong.  Highs will be close to 80 Tuesday, and behind the cold front dipping back into the 70s for the rest of the week under some sun.
An upper air disturbance slowly moving in and passing through later Thursday into Friday will probably trigger a few scattered showers/storm later Thursday and Friday, but much of the time will be dry."

Sunday Ride-around

I received an Email from Judy (Oliver) Bitteker a few days ago, saying that she had recently come upon the "Brainard Tiffany window" at the Corning Museum.

She asked where the original Methodist Church was located, and, so,  I took a few pictures to send to her.

The original Methodist Church building is located at the corner of White Street and Babbott Avenue S.   ......

The main entrance faces White Street.

The building has been a private residence for quite a number of years and now is best known for the owner's magnificent gardens.

 On Babbott Avenue ....

............  a glimpse of the "secret garden!"

You can read more about Genevie Brainard and the window by clicking At Home in the Huddle, March, 2013.
(Yes, it is "Genevie" - not Genevieve.)

Elsewhere

Marilyn has been decorating, again, and the new color scheme at Dan Maine's Woodshop is lovely!

A welcome sight on East Main Street: another dumpster! That means that something good will be happening to the fine old house built in 1853 by A.D. Cady for D.B. Goodwin.

Work is progressing rapidly on the new home at "Stedman's Knob," high atop Sanger Hill, where the view must certainly be one of the best around.

Brand new porches have been added to homes at the junction of
S. Bogan Road and Madison Street ......

......... and on East Bacon Street......

***************

.... and down in Sangerfield there's a new building at Growmark.

Sights like these waken the ten-year-old in me:
"Where are my roller skates?"

Smooth new surfacing on Osborn Avenue and Elmwood. What a great ride that would be!

COMING EVENTS

Village of Waterville

I know that many of you follow the blog because you "want to know what's going on!" One thing that you will NOT be able to learn about, here, is "What happened at Village Board?" because I almost never attend Board Meetings.  Too often, I've found, proceedings become unpleasantly contentious with arguments occurring between the elected officials, themselves, or between members of the Board and members of the public.

If you really are interested in the Village and really do want to know what's going on, I urge you to attend. Your presence could make a positive difference.

FOR THE RECORD

The WCS Marching Band and Swing Choir left for Disney World at 5:00.

I hope that they all have a WONDERFUL time, there, and that someone will send me a photo or two to post on the blog,
now and then.
