Most of Waterville lost electrical power sometime soon after 8:00 this morning.  Although all of the lights came on again at around 10:45, Villagers were left to deal with an unusual situation for a few hours.

Immediate frustration for many:  No Wi-fi!

An automated voice answered my cell phone call to NYSEG
and informed me that "392 customers in your area are without power. The outage is anticipated to last until 2:45 p.m."

Uptown .....

No traffic lights!

Dollar General was closed, but .........

Morgan's was open, waiting on customers and "just writing everything down!"

The electronic bulletin board in the park went black .....

............ and down in Sangerfield Sheriff and State Police directed traffic at the Routes 12 & 20 crosssroads.

At Nice 'n Easy the doors were open and both cashiers and customers stood around just waiting for something to happen.
(Sudden excitement: If not long-awaited lights at least it was something -  a blogger with a camera.  "Take my picture?"
Sure!)

I took a few steps toward the counter, got Stacy's attention, and with my finger on the shutter button, the lights came on
and to the sound of cheers and applause the cash registers began to whir, again!

What's next?

It's 81 degrees and hazy-bright at 3:15 Sunday afternoon.

The TWCNY Weather Forecast:

"Very Warm and Pleasant! Showers and Storms Return Next Week.
Dry weather will continue today with a blend of sun and clouds. Highs will be in the 80s.
Monday is shaping up to be hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s/near 90 degrees. Due to the combination of daytime heating and increasing moisture, a few pop-up showers or storms cannot be ruled out.
Scattered showers and storms should become more numerous on Tuesday with temperatures easing into the low 80s.
