Garbage Day

It's 66.6 degrees at 5:15 a.m.
and there is no precipitation.

The TWCNY Weather Forecast:

"Warm and Breezy, Late day Showers and Storms.

Today will be warm and breezy with a few showers and storms (mainly during the afternoon and into the evening) as a cold front pushes in from the west. A couple of storms could be on the strong to severe side. Highs will be in the 80s.
A cooler air mass will start to settle in on Tuesday with highs easing into the upper 70s and by the time Wednesday rolls around, temperatures are only expected to climb into the low 70s. An upper-level low will keep the overall weather pattern a bit on the unsettled side during this time period with a couple of spotty showers.
We won't experience any real warm ups through the rest of the week with temperatures topping out in the mid 70s Thursday and Friday."

This was NOT a good picture-taking weekend!
Not that there weren't plenty of things to take pictures of,
but - #1.....

This was as close as I got to Firemen's Field.

I usually take the "scenic route," from the Library parking lot, but between cars and spectators at the ball game,  I opted not to try to weave my way through the obstacle course to the field.

and, #2 .....

I don't know when I got a huge smudge on the camera lens, but I didn't discover it until late Sunday afternoon and have ended up trashing quite a few shots.  Sorry!

Paving in progress - both sidewalk and parking areas - at Memorial Park School.

IN THE MAIL

From Karen Fox
on behalf of the Brothertown Music Boosters:

"Item 1.
The WCS Marching Band, Color Guard, and Swing Choir recently returned from the trip to Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. While there, the Marching Band and Color Guard marched through Magic Kingdom as part of the Disney World Parade. They were the only school band performing that day. The Swing Choir performed
several selections on the Waterside Stage the next day in Downtown
Disney.
While the students were not performing, they and their chaperones
spread out through the various parks to experience the rides and attractions of Walt Disney World. The students represented  themselves, their school, and their communities very well. Thank you again to all the community members and businesses who helped make this trip possible."

The Brothertown Music Boosters
"Item 2
The WCS Marching Band and Color Guard were invited to march
in the Oneida County Firemen's Convention, held in Waterville this year.
After much discussion, band director Mr. Moshetti, the Brothertown Music Boosters, and the school administration agreed that the band and guard would participate in the parade with the same level of support as at regular season parades.
However, when the time came for students to commit to the performance, there were not enough members available to make up a band that could perform to the level that was needed for
a quality show. Therefore, the decision was regretfully made that the WCS Band and Guard will not be able to march in the
Convention parade due to the lack of students participating."

"Joe Pye Weed"

This is one of the most interesting stories that I've found
explaining the origin of the name "Joe Pye Weed" because it also refers to a diary kept by Samson Occom,  Mohegan Indian of "Brothertown" fame.
