Monday Morning Update

************

It's 25 degrees and snowing lightly at 6:00 a.m.

 Today is Garbage Day.

*****

Looking Back to January 5, 2007 ....

The temperature hit 60 degrees,

.....  runners wore shorts ......

.......... and a red pansy bloomed in Whiskey Hollow!

********************

On Saturday afternoon it snowed just long enough for us to say, "It's beginning to  look a lot like Christmas!" but the temperature rose, snow turned to rain, and on Sunday it was a springlike 48 degrees.

That, however, is about to change, and snowmobilers will be happy!

The WKTV morning Weather Forecast:

*Lake Effect Snow Warning for Lewis, Oneida and Madison Counties for Sunday night until early Tuesday morning*

*Lake Effect Snow Advisory for Herkimer, Hamilton, Fulton and Montgomery Counties for Sunday night until Monday night.*

"Winter's wrath arrives today, with cold, wind, and snow.   Temperatures starting out in the low 20s and fall into the teens throughout the day.  A west wind will gust between 30-40mph from the west, bringing the wind chill into the single digits to below zero. Lake effect snow will drop south into the Mohawk Valley this morning, producing moderate to heavy snow at times.  Several inches of accumulation are expected through the evening."

You probably won't be able to see it because of snow clouds, but tonight is the night of the Full Wolf Moon.

Here & There

On Friday afternoon I stopped at the Farmers Market in Municipal Hall to do some shopping and take a few pictures.

My huge apologies to John Brouillette for publishing such a poor quality picture of him!  He was far more focused than my camera, which was taking longer than normal to get through its predictable warming-up fogginess.
Featured on the Waterville First table were numerous products from the Stolzfus Farms.

The Szarek Farms display included fresh vegetables, several tantalizing "Adirondack" seasonings and - in the glass jars - real, homemade scones!

The Palmers from Lairdsville love honey bees, and on their table were at least half-a-dozen "flavors" of honey (I bought alfalfa) and dozens of beautiful beeswax candles.

The next Farmers Market will be on
Friday, January 16th, from 2:00 - 6:00.

In the Park, wooden stakes and chalk lines mark the location of the new electronic bulletin board.

"The regular monthly meeting of the Brothertown Music Boosters will be  held Tuesday, January 6, at 7:00 pm in the high school chorus room. (If  the weather is inclement, the meeting will be postponed to another  date.) The focus of discussion will be the trip to Disney planned for  July, 2015."

(Please note that the WCS Calendar shows this meeting  to be on Wednesday evening, but Karen assures me that Tuesday is the usual night for Music Boosters' meetings.)
